JeanCarlos was born in the Dominican Republic, where he attended the Catholic University of Santo Domingo, graduating cum laude. Before relocating to Florida, he worked in the private banking sector. Upon his arrival in Miami, JeanCarlos pursued his passion for international business and earned a master’s degree from St. Thomas University in 2014. Prior to joining McAlpin Florez Marcotte, JeanCarlos spent nearly a decade working in the international shipping industry, during which he negotiated and drafted shipment contracts, resolved claims, and oversaw cargo logistics from the container loading stage to final port delivery throughout the Caribbean. This process involved closely working with shippers, seamen, and longshoremen to ensure smooth voyage operations.
JeanCarlos subsequently obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University, where his compelling arguments in both criminal and civil mock trials made him a standout within the law school’s Trial Advocacy program. Following graduation, JeanCarlos served as an Assistant State Attorney in South Florida as a criminal prosecutor. During this time as a prosecutor, JeanCarlos honed his trial skills through numerous cases, developing a keen ability to analyze complex cases and present compelling arguments to achieve favorable outcomes. Transitioning to maritime law, JeanCarlos uses these skills to navigate intricate disputes on behalf of clients. He handles a wide variety of maritime claims, including claims involving insurance disputes, passenger personal injury, wrongful death, limitation of liability actions, vessel collisions, marine products liability, and subrogation matters.
